Good quality hotel. Central location - although parking could have been a problem in high season. Very friendly staff and warm friendly atmosphere. Very child friendly.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights last weekend in the four poster room and we thought it was marvellous. Excellent location just a few minutes walk to the harbour. Friendly and helpful owners and a lovely cooked breakfast.

Great hotel, lovely light airy family room with bunk beds that the kids loved. The room had a flat screen TV/DVD player and they have a fantastic DVD collection with all the latest films. Great central location. Thoroughly recommend. Booked for £69 for the room and breakfast for 2 adults, 2 children through laterooms.

We stayed in the Palms Hotel from 11 September 2007 for three nights. We stayed in the four poster room. Our proprieters were really pleasant helful people. We have decided that we will be returning at a later date.

Our room was really nice and the service was marvellous. Whatever the needs or requirements were our hosts were happy to oblige. On one of our nights we were unsure where to eat so they suggested a few places one of which we chose. It was a good recommendation.
Toys were on hand for people with children and a bar on request. Torquay was a fabulous place to visit made better by our hosts. The hotel was small but beautiful. Just a short walk away from the harbour and the main town area.
Our thanks go to our hosts. Like we say we will be returning at a later date probably for longer.

Just returned from 3 nights at the Palms Hotel Torquay on Babbacombe Road. We found out hosts were very friendly and helpful, pleasant surprise to be upgraded to a family room as we were not visiting at peak season, thanks for that, very kind of you. The hotel is very very clean, there are toys for the children to play with, fridges in rooms, basically everything you need to get settled in and live very comfortably as your base for a holiday.
Great food and good solid walls to the rooms so you get your privacy.
I've seen many negative reviews about parking not just for palms, but for babbacombe road in general, I had no trouble at all, I know it is probably harder to get spaces in peak season, but if you are planning days out then there will be no issue with parking at all, but if this should concern you then catch a train to torquay and a taxi to the hotel if you are not planning to go far out of town for your stay, and theres plenty to do/see/eat in town.
If you're looking for a traditional hotel run by real people instead of those faceless Holiday Inn type hotels then this should be given strong consideration.
